God Attends Church Regularly

Do you? I once saw very wise counsel on a sign near a church: Enter to Worship, Depart to Serve. A believer*s worship is not complete unless he is serving and his service is not complete unless he is worshipping. My worst nightmare is that believers will read these articles and use them as a substitute for regularly attending a Biblical church. God blesses in churches in ways that He does not bless anywhere else.

Colossians 1:18: And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

Those who stay away from church are staying away from the head of the church.

Matthew 18:20: For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Acts 2:42: And they continued stedfastly in the apostles* doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Believers who are not regularly in church are not steadfast.

Acts 2:46: And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

Believers who are not regularly in church do not share in the gladness.

1 John 1:3: That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

Believers who stay away from church are staying away from sweet fellowship with other believers and with God Himself.

Ephesians 4:11-13: And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Believers who stay away from church are staying away from some precious gifts of God. He gave pastors and teachers. Where will you have the most contact with pastors and teachers? In a local church. Only the families of a pastor or teacher will be able to spend very much time with them outside of a local church. Believers who stay away from the local church ARE NOT being perfected, they are not doing the work of the ministry, they are not being edified, they are not in unity with other believers and they are not becoming more like Christ. And they are probably not supporting the work of God financially.
